Firstly I do think it's strange that you can't place an order for the TV Drive online as NTL are doing online discounts and I'm cheap but still.

If I was to order the following phone/TV packages how much extra would the TV Drive be?

Talk Weekends
Family Pack
Sky Movies Collection.

Re: Cost

By my reckoning, the Tv Drive would cost you an extra £10 per month (because you have the Family Pack)

Yes, TV Drive would cost you an extra £10.

Talk Weekends: £11
Family Pack: £19.50
Sky Movies Collection: £17.50

Total: £58 (Montly Cost)

Thanks, I'm still tempted even though Sky is cheaper for me since I'm on the top mix with the sports and movie package I don't get charged extra for the + box (I also have a standard box with a dual sub which I think is about a tenner a month). The one thing that NTL have in their favour of course is that they repair/replace the box free where Sky would gouge a couple of hundred quid off me should my + box die.

Ouch, I already have all the cabling as I used to have NTL here, it was the + box that made me go over to Sky. Mind you £50 is still cheaper than the cost of a new + box.

Re: Cost

Sorry to confuse you, I edited my post. It won't cost you £50 because you're a new customer.

NTL may replace or repair the box but think how much you'll have paid them over the next 4 years.

4x12x£10=£480

How many Sky+ boxes can you get for that?

In addition if you are out fo your contract and tell them you need to cancel because you can't sfford to get your box repaired they'll more than likely fix/replace it for you for free

I can get 1.6 Sky+ HD boxes for that. I know some people who have been through 3 in 3 months, although you get 1 year replacement. I guess its pot luck. I like the idea of always knowing that if something goes wrong with my kit it gets replaced without me having to worry about it.

And paying Ntl every moth for it. Sky do a repair plan for £8 a month if you're that bothered. Personally if my box breaks within the first three years I'd expect Sky to repair or replace it for free under the Sale of Goods Act. After that I'd expect them to want to keep me on the top package and supply a new one for free too.

Ah, that's what Sky do if you take the top package (and movies and/or sport).

I seem to recall Sky charging me £250 for the + box a few years ago. I'm on my second + box, the first went down completely. I imagine the cost of the + box has come down since I got mine of course and I believe the H/D in them is larger, mine can record a max of 20 hours.

I`m sure sky would replace your box if you said it had gone wrong and you
wanted to cancel.
They did for me on my digi box when it went wrong after about 14 months,at first they said i would have to get a new one, about 150 quid i think,so i told them there was no way i was going to pay that and could i cancel.
To cut a long story short, had a new box within a week,no charge
