Just planning my TV Drive setup - I understand that the Scart output is disabled when HDMI is enabled, but does the same apply to the audio outputs (optical and phono) ? Are they disabled when HDMI is enabled, or are they always 'live' ?
Before I realised that the HDMI connection killed SCART, I made a few recordings; audio was recorded but video obviously was not - so I guess the audio signal is still active...
The optical out on the TV Drive is enabled when using HDMI. This is how I have mine set up with HDMI to my 32" HD LVD TV and optical out to my Digital Amp. The sound is superb and the picture from BBC HD is great too. I think there may be a setting in the Setup bit for Audio/Video for the optical output.
All the audio outputs are still active when HDMI is selected.
If your HDMI-connected TV doesn't support DD 5.1, you'll need to set the "HDMI audio override" option on if you want to get 5.1 out of the optical. You then won't get any sound out of your TV.
