TV Drive external HDD

A long shot I know, but is it possible to add an external HDD to increase recording capacity? 80 hours seems like a lot, but it gets filled up really quickly (especially if you record on HD as one hour = 4 hours).

Re: TV Drive external HDD

As the TV drive is the property of NTL, I really doubt it.

You can with the likes of Sky as you own the box.

The engineer that did my install claimed that a future code drop would enable the eSATA port along with the ethernet port.

It's an external HDD I'm talking about Gavin, no fiddling with the innards.

I don't think the USB ports are ever used on the STBs

Any external draive capabilities will be via eSATA not USB, eSATA is 5 times faster than USB2 too, which is nice.

Not that it really makes any difference given that drives don't get close to the speeds of eSATA or USB 2.0

Actually, to go off topic, USB 2.0 cannot sustain 480MBps. Try editing full broadcast resolution video on a USB 2.0 drive. It's not a pleasant experience.
