Which network am I on?

Virgin Media have three cable networks for digital TV. This is a legacy from the late 1990s when there were three cable companies in the UK - Cable & Wireless, ntl and Telewest.
In 2000 ntl bought C&W's cable business, and in 2006 ntl and Telewest merged, becoming Virgin Media in 2007. But many aspects of the three networks are still operated separately, and won't be fully merged for several years.

The three networks are often known by the location of the super-headend from where most channels are distributed - i.e. Bromley (ex-C&W), Knowsley (ex-Telewest) and Langley (original ntl).

Geographically, the three networks are scattered around the country. To know which headend you are connected to, look up your postcode district below.

The snag is some postcode districts are split between two networks, especially around London. If you are in one of these, you can find out which network you are on from your STB instead.
Go to the Home page, then select Settings, then Technical Stuff. Look for the Network ID.

If the Network ID is less than 50, you are on the Langley network.
If the Network ID is between 40961 and 41039, you are on the Knowsley network.
If the Network ID is 41040 or greater, you are on the Bromley network.

Re: Which network am I on?

Or

If you have an Area Reference on your bill between 01 and 18 - you are on Knowsley

If you have an Area Reference on your bill between 20 and 22 - you are on Bromley

If you have an Area Reference on your bill between 24 and 31 - you are on Langley
