integrating billing systems

Quote:
We are in the process of integrating our various billing systems and customer databases in an effort to improve one of the
main tools we use to provide customer service. This effort is at a relatively early stage although we have continued to make progress through March 31, 2003. Although the new system does
not yet support our full suite of services, we expect to substantially complete the project by the third quarter of 2004. The total project cost is estimated to be approximately £75.0 million, of which we have incurred approximately £30.1 million through March 31, 2003. We cannot be certain that this project will be successful. If the full integration is not successful, we could
experience an adverse effect on customer service, our churn rate and our costs of maintaining these systems going forward. We could also experience operational failures related to billing
and collecting revenue from our customers, which, depending upon on the severity of the failure, could have a material adverse effect on our business.
anyone else find it that they are to spend 75million on something that might not work??????

I find it absolutely astonishing that a company could plan to spend £75 million on something that, 3 months before the project is complete, they claim might not even work.

Someone's head should be in a basket for this. This is the kind of who-cares attitude you would expect from a privatised utility, not a modern, private company.

I can only hope that now the company is owned by bankers and accountants, they will hold someone accountable if the project does indeed go belly-up.

Cheeky, cheeky ...

nthw.com is a different forum and not all of us members here are so closely involved in it any more. I haven't posted there since this site opened although I do look in from time to time.

We have had this discussion in several other threads here, but IMO it's perfectly legitimate for someone to post similar things on two entirely different forums that they are a member of.

On the other hand, the general consensus of the mods here is that posting in such a way as to try to attract traffic to a different forum is 'spam'.

If you want to join a debate on this site, personally I think you should post your opinion on this site, not try to get people to go and read it somewhere else.

EDIT - Grum, I'm glad you're back on .co.uk again, but I thought you decided not to post here any more?
