NTL staff misselling?
Over the last few days my services have been restricted due to apparent non-payment which was nothing to do with me - ntl cocked up.
I used one of my contacts to look in to this and everything was put back to normal. Or so I thought.
I put Sky 1 on earlier tonight only to be greeted with the message that it wasn't part of my package etc.
Well yes it is!!
I phone ntl and spoke to some Indian sounding guy who was in the UK and told him I wanted Sky 1 back, and he kept me on hold for a bit while he 'looked in to this'.
When he came back he said "I'm just sorting this out for you now sir" and I could hear him doing something.
Then for some reason he came out with "So you'll be watching the cricket then sir?"
Taken aback by this, I replied "Actually no, I don't like cricket". He sounded a bit surprised but then went on, "So what about the game on sunday, will you be watching that?"
I had no idea what he was on about so I told him I won't be around on sunday.
He then said "OK sir we have a package which gives you Sky Sports 1 and 3 for £16 per month, I'm just adding that for you now sir".
"Erm, no you're not" I said.
He replied "Pardon?"
I said "No, I just want Sky 1!! I didn't say anything about Sky Sports! Didn't you actually listen to what I told you?"
He then became flustered as I said my goodbyes and I hung up.
So is this possibly a tactic employed by some ntl people? I may have a fairly pronnounced Welsh accent but I can't see how anyone could mistake "Sky One" for "Sky Sports".

Could be a simple mistake...
someone who has had a long day could easily mistake "sky sports 1" for "sky 1"

Possibly, however I made it clear that I wanted Sky 1 back, not added - as if he'd read the notes on my account he'd have seen that it was part of the package I'd had for several months.

Re: NTL staff misselling?
Hmmm, its a bit of a strange one.
It might be interesting to see if the CS staff have an incentive on right now to add Sky movies or sports to customers packages. It certainly wouldn't be unheard of for people to bump up their sales by 'mishearing' customers.

Re: NTL staff misselling?
A really bad day by the sounds of it if he mistook "one" for "sports" and didn't bother to look at the notes on my account.
