Re: Virgin Media to Double Broadband Speed
I am so glad you clarified that however if VM are only running tests to identify which modem the customer has got surely they cant say my modem is not "the best" because they dont know what router is attached to it. My VMNG 300 is going to do just as well on 120mbit as the shub. VM have never supplied with a stand alone router, especially one with 100mbit ports, so they cant mark me down for that.

All VMNG300 modems should have been supplied with a router (either a Netgear WNR2000 or the D-Link DIR-615) - unless the customer chose not to take it or use it.
But I really really don't want to go around the whole SuperHub v VMNG300 modem argument yet again.

Re: Virgin Media to Double Broadband Speed
How can I find out when my area will really be upgraded? Do I need to phone Virgin?
I take it other customers are getting the same messages when logging into My Virgin Media?

apologies i hadnt.
your system might need a little tune up. your screenshots say your areas done so capacity would have been added on.
test - speedtester.bt.com/
you could try this...
www.speedguide.net/files/TCPOptimizer.exe
run the prog via admin rights.. move the marker up top all the way to 100+ then above apply changes click on optimal then apply changes - restart - test speedtest.net running internet explorer

Re: Virgin Media to Double Broadband Speed
Pretty much; unless you have a particularly bad (wired) connection.

Re: Virgin Media to Double Broadband Speed
My Virgin Media postcode message has changed, it now says to Start checking for 120 Mb/s from September onwards. I'd like to think that it translates to, You will get it in September unless there is a screw up.

Re: Virgin Media to Double Broadband Speed
Well I followed the advice on here and changed my package - which meant the broadband speed doubled for download and I saved £11 per month -RESULT!
