A nice little win for VM

Not really a high profile discussion thread but I have seen quite a few posts where members have accused VM of not blowing their trumpet so I was quite pleased to read of this successful defence of VM's advertising claims.

Re: A nice little win for VM

This would be because it's not really news - advertising complaints are made by all sorts of companies all the time and are not upheld - Virgin have I'm sure made plenty about Sky and BT that weren't upheld either.

You would hope that the vast majority of Virgin's ads don't infringe, would be a rather messed up company if it were newsworthy for them to produce standards compliant advertising don't you think?

Jo - since they became Virgin Media the last thing I would accuse them of is not blowing their own trumpet, quite the opposite the flood of PR from them has been enormous, and along with that there have been a flood of upheld or partially upheld ASA complaints.

Just FYI from a few weeks ago here's an upheld complaint from Sky regarding VM, one from the month before where 6 of 7 points were upheld, it happens all the time and is really nothing noteworthy. They both snipe at each other, sometimes one wins, sometimes the other.

Re: A nice little win for VM

Its just companies crying about the other company saying something nasty, petty really why don't they just try and combat the ad with response in there own ad.

Because that would be petty in public instead of behind the scenes with the ASA?
