Re: Breaking Contract

Just now I have terminated my contract (basically I gave them 30 days notice) and they have agreed to terminate

They tried to tell me various stories, but never accepted to waive the increased charge, so finally they have accepted that I can break the contract.

Re: Breaking Contract

AFAIK most of the Relations price match bundles are changing by £1 as well, but this is because they are tracking a specific competitor's bundle which has changed. The CR bundles have not changed in price since December 2006 when they were first put together

I.E (and this is completely made up) you may have a price match bundle for a Sky package that in December 2006 cost £52. It now costs £54, but the Virgin CR bundle is still £52. Therefore it will adjusted to £54 to track.

Re: Breaking Contract

The retention deals are staying just changing to match what the competitors offer. Off the top of my head I think the discounts are changing depending on what package your on ranging from £0.49 to £4. not sure about the higher amount may only be £3 but def not more than £4

Re: Breaking Contract

I just tried using this as a reason to break my contract and have been told it's not a good enough reason to leave

I've been trying to get away from virgin for a a while as they conned me into a new contract with a pretty poor retentions deal but they never told me this would mean I had a new contract or that it would tie me in for another year.

Re: Breaking Contract

Actually this is the reason why I hate VM so much. They also once upgraded my a/c with a poor deal when I threatened to leave. And they said I'm in a new 1-yr contract.

Stick to your point. Even if they increase tariff by 1p, still it's a breach of contract and you're legally allowed to leave. Don't pay heed to rubbish stories that you can't leave.

Change, not breach - but I still believe you can leave, under para a. quoted in Zing's post#2.

They are lying to you. I know at least 30+ people that have used the price increase as a way of terminating the contract, when they really wanted to cancel it because of STM and just basic slowdown.

Re: Breaking Contract

Basically, if VM increase the charges on any service you take with them, you can cancel that part of your contract with them by giving them 30 days notice.
This applies even if you have not been with them for the minimum 12 months.
So yes in a way it is a way out for new customers, providing that customer has the service that the increase has been applied to.
It doesnt appear rocket science to me.

Phone again and ask to speak to the Duty Manager

Or, fill in this form https://help2.virginmedia.com/assets...intformCZ.html which is the complaint form and goes straight to Customer Concern
