Need some help - Account Number
Guys,
I've got a virgin media broadband account (former NTL) and have had for an absolute age.
I have it here now if anyone wants to pm to help me by the way.
Anyway the issue is that I am wishing to use this account to order 4 V Festival tickets on pre-sale (starting today!). Considering this event usually sells out within 3 hours on public sale I wanna get it done quick!.
However my virginmedia account number is showing as "invalid" when I enter it to verify I'm a virgin customer.
Can anyone help me...apparently this should have changed but Customer Services refuse to give me the new one (or verify if there is indeed a change!)
Please please help
Thanks
Wiggz

It'll be on your last bill.

Re: Need some help - Account Number
I have it! When I enter it it says it's not valid. I've rung VirginMedia customer servuices to confirm that is the correct account number and it is apparently. They wouldn't say if it had been changed. That's my issue. I can't buy them without the correct Account Number.

oh this is just great. Spoke to a customer service rep you said that they will send the only other account number they have to me. On my missus's email. We haven't used this for ages and subsequently I cannot login. I know the email addy, but can't remember the password! I can't change the password through Virginmedia as it seems that Virgin has something against the fact I'm former NTL and is denying me access to everything
Help!

Re: Need some help - Account Number
Broadband tech support may be able to change the password for you. You'll need to be able to prove to them that you do own that email addy, i.e. you know the master password for your account.

Nope the fact you can't remember your password is denying you access to everything

Re: Need some help - Account Number
Right
Got the password (had to drive home - but have it!)
Logged in, found the account number, tried to use that "invalid".
So I'm left with no valid Virginmedia account number am I. Seetickets are no help and nor are VM Customer Services. I have two account numbers and neither of them are validated!
Can anyone help at all?

This is standard procedure. Remember anyone could (theoretically) get your account number, and without your password, Customer Services cannot verify that you are who you say you are, and aren't just some bloke trying random account numbers, or you aren't someone who has got hold of the account number.
Remember: Virgin can (and possibly would) be prosecuted for discussing your details with anyone without being able to adequately verify the identity of who they reveal the info to. For them to do so is a violation of the Data Protection Act, which, if the people involved are nothing to do with the government, is a very serious matter.
I don't work for Virgin, but where I do, we operate under similar rules when discussing personal data (such as user accounts) with users.

Re: Need some help - Account Number
I work in tech support and have been told to never ever ever ever give a customer their account number regardless if they can comfirm every bill, every service, method of payment and every password.
It's a strict no-no.
