Medical Emergency
all virgin services went down in my area yesterday near glasgow at half past one , just back on at 4.38 pm TODAY. The council has been on to virgin media warning them of the danger to housebound people with medical conditions and elderly people with no mobile alternative to a landline now i know accidents and vandalism happen but i bet in civilised countries like japan and germany teams of men will labour without break untill services are restored but in this country one man and a spade seems to be the norm and the reason for that is cause companies are run by bean counters in the uk with only profit in mind. Engineers should be listened to where manning issues are concerned . Since privatisation the utility companies have no surplus of labour in store at all thats why every winter engineers are flown in from across europe when power lines go down and its a disgrace/ PROFIT BEFORE PEOPLE . RIP OFF BRITAIN . the only important person seems to be the shareholder and not the customer where their profits derive.

Re: Medical Emergency
If you have a disability you can register this with virgin to get put on a VIP priority service, which does work well and quickly if needed.

Re: Medical Emergency
They just prioritise engineers (For phone) if your services are out.
It's been a fair while since I registered.
If you think you qualify I'd call customer services.

Re: Medical Emergency
Its actually called Lifeline. If you call Custoemr care asking to be a VIP customer they will most proberly get confused and think you want the VIP pack or want your accont marked as a VIP customer

Re: Medical Emergency
'Lifeline' I shall be sure to register myself first thing tomorrow, thanks. If I knew how to give you a green square each, I would.
I must admit, the lasttime I had to call an ambulance out in the middle of the night I did put the phone to my ear with some trepidation. It was after reading on here that they were reducing the number of engineers who would respond to emmergency repairs and such like. Luckilly it worked, otherwise I wouldn't be here obviously
Thanks again.

So they fixed the problem in just over 12 hours? Considering the issue is unknown this could be an excellent turn around time. What was the man with spade doing, drinking tea and smoking a roll up? Do you have any facts relating to what the fault was? On the subject of facts do you have any stats for fault repairs to the telecom infrastructure in Germany and Japan?

Re: Medical Emergency
Remember thought it only applys to the telephone line, The TV or Broadband aren't classed as lifelines.
Jefferson, They do have a VIP marker though for accounts for celebs etc, Never had the pleasure of actually seeing one though.

The definition of "Surplus" is "In excess of"
Who is going to pay for this surplus labour which for most of the time will be doing nothing? Thats right! - you and me.
Without knowing more about the cause of the failure you suffered and the steps taken to rectify it, you are being very harsh.

I've asked them to send me written conformation of my status and what is supposed to happen, as I just called 10 mins ago and they told me that if I needed my phone fixing I would get fast tracked.
Confused stuff, but I'll post when I get the letter.
