Prices

Is there a list of Virgin Media standard prices, on VM's web-site or elsewhere?

The last printed list I have is from ntl:/Telewest, refers to prices from 1st Feb 2007 and only lists the changes.

I'm particularly looking at broadband prices. I have Broadband Size: L (4Mb/s), and the small print in these two places on the web-site

http://allyours.virginmedia.com/html...l_size_xl.html
http://allyours.virginmedia.com/webs...ervice.do?id=2

says

"Standard monthly prices (currently up to 2Mb is £9, up to 4 Mb is £16, up to 20Mb is £28) apply thereafter when taken with Virgin Phone."

I'm being charged more than that - £25. I want to find out if this is right.

I do have Virgin Phone, and also TV Size: XL.

You must work for the Advertising Standards Authority. Unlimited does not mean unlimited as standard does not mean standard?

Re: Prices

£25 is the standard, stand-alone price. Do you get a credit on your bill?

As if you were on a package, it would itemise everything full price, and then apply a credit.

The important part of your quote has now been enboldened and underlined. The prices are confusingly quoted and ONLY apply when you take the 2 for £20 deal, including phone.

Your bill will ALWAYS show the full, list price for a service - in your case, £25 for BB L 4 Mb.

If I read you correctly, you have Phone M?, BB L and TV XL.

The current deal price for this would be based on 3 for £30 and cost £46 per month and be billed as :

Phone M £11
BB L £25
TV XL £20.50
Discount -£10.50
Total £46

To explain a different way:

In 3 for £30, you get Phone M, BB M and TV L. To upgrade to TV XL and BB L, you pay extra the difference in price between the base service and the level you want.

BB M to L (25 -18 = 7)
TV L to XL (20.50 - 11.50 = 9)

So, price for Phone M, BB L and TV XL is 30 + 7 + 9 = 46.

Hope this helps.

Re: Prices

Phone them, a lot of people have and end up getting their bill knocked down.

Not in the least! Where on the VM site does it state that the standard price of BB L is £25, or indeed the standard price of M & XL?

Ah, the old "soak the people who have kept us in business all these years" approach!

Nope. I've been a customer for years, I'm not on a package.

A very good question, and the one I think I started with!

Edit: found it. from the home page, click Already with us, take the Upgrade Cable link, and give it a postcode. Lo and behold, Broadband Size L is £25. But, if you click the 'more information' link there, it says it's £11.50 !!

Re: Prices

I agree with you KenK.We used to have a Price List sent to us by Telewest, did we not?
Now with VM I get so confused, and despair of alteration. That is exactly what they want of course!
