VM: One year on....
Virgin Media is one year old on Friday (February 8th). What do you think of Virgin Media over this past year.

Re: VM: One year on....
As the OP, perhaps you could have proferred your viewpoint?
Personally speaking, as a customer, nothing has really changed apart from the brand name. Some things have evolved, but I'd have expected that with any technology, other things have just been a reinvention of the wheel and arguably have degraded. As ever there is lot's of talk of stuff on the horizon, that could bring improvements, but that horizon, as in the days of Cable & Wireless, later ntl, later ntl:telewest, seems at times to be very distant.
Bottom line Virgin Media remain debt ridden. Until such time as that debt can be relieved there will always be limitations in the improvements that can be made.

Re: VM: One year on....
I'm quite happy, more on demand content, faster broadband announced and some new channels. All we need is c4HD and itv HD to imrove the HD services.
Probably improved since Telewest, even customer service seems to be better now, though still far from RBS standards or Virgin mobile standards.
They could do with getting better films though.

Re: VM: One year on....
I think the 4 for 40 is the very good offer [My Grandad got it). Being the Ex-Telewest viewer I think it good to see all the new channels that Virgin plus NTLTelewest has giving us since the takeover with more to come (I hope). So Virgin keep up the good work it 10 out of 10 for me.

Re: VM: One year on....
virgin 1 , is not that bad it would be nice if thay could get lost on there, and if virgin add a virgin 2 and thay add more new channels and take them away from us, but thay have done a bad job , thay have give us a sport news channl , and the setanta sports channels free on XL, so it as being a bit better than when we were on extelewest, so i give virgin 9 out of 10,

Re: VM: One year on....
I think they have done a fairly good job in the past year. OK it is debatable who is to blame for us not having Sky One, but would Sky have given us Lost in HD? Definitely not - but Virgin have.
Virgin 1 is a good channel, especially enjoyed The Riches.
The VOD content is fantastic now, and the music on demand is great fun when you have friends round.
The V+ is a great piece of kit and really does change the way you watch TV.
The only thing I am not happy with is the fact that they claimed they were going to have UK call centres - and they still don't.

Yep, thumbs up. The V+ service is really great and I've not missed Sky One. I just think they need to focus more on VoD provision. Need to get more premium content on there sooner, such as Lost etc. Also need to get more BBC content on there other than catchup. Catchup needs greater breadth and retention IMO. Maybe that's not under their control though.

Re: VM: One year on....
Hi TV Boy, First question, do you have any details on when VM are going to court, as l heard a rumour, that they are talking (both parties) about the basic package, so that it doesn't go to court, Second question, l think that VM, are losing a lot more customers than they are admitting, and if they are in debt, why doesn't someone buy them, and are there anyone in the wings, VM does not keep customers up to date with all this, cheers TV Boy.

Re: VM: One year on....
My phone, mobile, broadband and v tv have all worked flawlessly which is great. The v+ was a complete disaster from start to finish, however which is a shame as it has such great potential.
I'll probably try it again in a couple of years when they've got it right.
I've not missed the sky channels though

Re: VM: One year on....
Phone & TV second to none. BB could be better, but I am confident VM will improve and they have to with stiff competition. After all Rome wasn't built in a day.
Still a shame about the Sky channels and I hope it does get sorted, if not they won't be sorely missed.
