Open green box.

I've reported this on the phone about 4 months ago, I'm not going to ring up again as I can't be bothered with trying to spell a Welsh place name with an Indian man/woman who can hardly speak English.

It's on Rhyddings Park Road in Swansea, the cables are hanging out onto the pavement and they look like live wires not the normal black ones you see.

SJ.

Re: Open green box.

You may have better luck if you keep an eye out for one of the vans and get them to report it for you.

You should have recorded the phone call then we could all have had a laugh especially if you have a strong Welsh accent.

I gave up reporting open green boxes. I am thinking of reporting boxes that are fully locked as they are quite rare in this area

If it's live wires, it's a health hazard..phone the council?

Actually, what voltages ARE present in those green things?

If water gets in there it will get to the coms cards and then all the phone lines off that cab go down.

u must have called faults ..
unfortunately they cant do much in this case ...
all the faults center does in this case is that after taking the details of the location they pass it over to the open/damaged cabinates department via mail.

Its the open cabinet depart. who needs to take an action regarding this.
The faults cant send techs to close the cabinets ...

do u have the complete address of the location including the post code,
if u can get the box no. that will be wonderful

Do you have a line to the cable box closer’s dept? If you do I would gladly let you have some details of open boxes in Letchworth the first Garden city, the town without a sheriff.

The other option if I may be as bold is give out some more keys to engineers who work in the area so they don’t have to revert to using a screw driver to open the box. Also if there is mains power in any part it could be dangerous or is it only the big street cabinets

Re: Open green box.

There's a freephone number - 08009532244 which will get you through to the Cabinet & Plant Maintenance Team in Birmingham. Out of hours emergencies will go through to the faults centre.

Re: Open green box.

Nip down with some duck tape and tape it closed if it concerns you that much.

My dear man the boxes look so untidy in their unlocked state while also giving out the message I just don’t care, plastering duck tape over the street cabinet will make our quaint little town untidy. I'm from Happy Land, living in a gumdrop house on lollipop lane! Oh, by the way, I was being sarcastic.

Duck Tape?

That wouldn't be anything like Duct Tape would it?

Or is it something that you would only find at Vetenary Supplies?

In truth as understand it duct tape is the lower quality of duck tape, the duct tape was used to tape up duct joints say in warm central heating while the duck or as I call it closer plate tape is the one that will stick to most surfaces and would be ideal to tape up street cabs (photos coming)
