security issues with an old modem

It looks likely that my motorola cable modem is faulty and will need to be replaced. I am concerned re identity fraud as I often use the internet for financial transactions. If the modem is replaced, might the old one store data that might be useful to a prospective fraudster? I'm thinking specifically of details of card transactions, website passwords, usage history etc.

Re: security issues with an old modem

The modem is a bridge to the network, it does not cache any traffic.

Firstly exactly what Cyber_tiger said but in plain English your modem stores no data and if like mine they don’t bother taking the old one away. I now have three that I hope to sell on EBay
