That's true... it always amazes me when I take the train on the continent and the locals moan because it's 2 or 3 minutes late leaving. I tell them they should consider themselves lucky the train's even there at all, let alone that it left 3 minutes late.

Re: Virgin Media expand to Europe!
This may be a real good thing a member in the DS forums mentioned they maybe able to create some kind of future partnerships with one and other and share rights. Not sure how that will work though as usually companies buy say their countries rights. We obviously couldn't use someone like frances rights to say european football

Re: Virgin Media expand to Europe!
Well this seems very probable.
The existing relationship is already there.
UPC which own Numericable... UPC bought NTL:Eire from NTL a couple of years ago, but kept the NTL brand under licence and still take their DTV feed from Virgin Media.
I wouldn't be suprised if they were again granted to use the brand under licence, certainly in Eire and also possibly, in France.

Arthur, you misunderstand - VM will not be running the French cable companes, merely licencing the VM brand to them, as stated in the original link.
Quote
" It is understood that Virgin Group is in discussions with Numéricable, France’s largest cable operator, covering nine million households, about a deal to rebrand its service under the Virgin Media name.
Similar licensing deals with the Virgin Media brand are expected to follow in other European markets."

Re: Virgin Media expand to Europe!
Can't even get the sodding product right here in the UK, and now they are going to see if they can burden the Europeans with inferior products??
Mind you, we'll probably see those buggers paying half of what we do
