Whats a "loyalty discount" and how do I get it?
Been with C&W, then NTL and now Virgin since I moved into my current house, approx 9 years ago!
Do I just ring up and ask nicely?

Re: Do you pay for all of it ?
>Puts flame retardent underwear on<
I`m paying less for my overall package and my bb at the moment.
I was originally given a free upgrade away last year when i was still on the 1Mb connetion, that was for loads of problems with billing & services we put up with during the first few months(and still do it seems) and nothing to do with bb speeds.
I was actually offered a cash discount but i asked for the upgrade instead.
I also have our separate stb connection as far as bb is concerned and i dont have to pay for that either.Even had a nice call at the time confirming that i would`nt have to pay if i wanted to use it.If you dont ask and all that eh..
Also 2 months ago i was given a temporary discount on our 20Mb for 3 months because our speeds are in fact anything but 20Mb.Of course for two months i was told(by all I dealt with) it`s just upgrade teething problems and my NTL120 was perfectly capable, now though it seems that stance has suddenly changed.....so,we`ll see?
Hopefully i`ll see something at least close to this elusive 20Mb that i`ve yet to witness once my shiney new modem arrives....

Re: Do you pay for all of it ?
i used to pay full whack.
But now traffic shaping is into play and i rarely get to use the apparent unlimited service i refused to pay up and now get it at £7.99/month which is good enough for me.
TV, nothing worth watching, and anything that is worth watching you have to put up with none stop adverts every few minutes, pay price of small for XL package right now.
im more than happy to pay full whack if the service works like it should, but it dont, so i flat out refuse to now

Re: Do you pay for all of it ?
When I set this poll up I knew that I would get a few NO's from info from friends and workmates that that have retention or special offer deals etc but nothing to this level..
If these stats are typical country wide then I think VM have issues that need addressing.
No s**t Sherlock..

I cant say our connections ever been stable enough one way or another on this (not)20Mb to know if it`s traffic shaping or just our usage thats tipped it down to the 3,4,5Mb it sometimes is.I mean it can be those kinds of speeds at any time of the day regardless of wether we`ve just switched a pc/s on or if they`ve all been using bandwidth for ages mabey.
I`m gonna have to do a bit of proper usage/speed monitoring this last week or so with the old 120,then see how it goes with the new one when it arrives.
I want to at least be prepared if it stays the same and i need to make that call in a couple of weeks.
Their not telling me it`s bloody spyware

Re: Do you pay for all of it ?
I voted no just because the staff package is so cheap. I did pay full wack before NTL took over Telewest... I mean merged. :-)
Pretty much the only good thing to come out of the merger for me.

Re: Do you pay for all of it ?
I voted NO, because technically I'm on a discount code.
However its not as open and shut as that.
As far as I'm concerned I'm paying the right full price.
I have Phone M, BB M, TV XL, V+, extra box. That's as advertised for 3 for £30 + extra STB (£9.50). For some unknown reason I'm paying £39 rather than £39.50.
This situation seems to be a more a reflection of the fact that VMs billing system is so cr*ppy that the only way to get a customer onto an advertised price is to apply discount codes, rather than it being people chancing their arm.

Re: Do you pay for all of it ?
I think its to much of a gray area. Are people that are on the 3 4 30 deal or the VIP pack voting no. I wouldn't class these as discounts as such because they are package deals avalible to eveyone. To get a better understanding I think you would have to exclude all these packages as being discounted.

I think its got to be another reason than just the blilling system being rubbish, As it is actually possible to apply a offer to the account which actually changes the amount that you are charged on the services themselfs instead of you being charged the full amount then having the discount taken off. Infact this is how it used to be done. Don't know whether its so that its easyer for them to account and report the offers being given or just simply down to the fact the it shows the customer the actually discount so in their head they think there getting a better deal, Unfortunatly its not something that I think we will ever find out but its not due to limitations with the billing system.
Also with the deal your getting there loads of different combinations of offers, you may have called to get the 3 4 30 deal with a extra stb but you may have actually been put on a diffent offer to save you that little bit more, or do you have ebilling where you get a extra 50p discount.
Unless you actually work for VM how can you say the billing system is rubbish. In actuall fact its very good, (obviously I'm excluding the old NTL systems that seemed to have lots of problems but are going to be gone soon) and as front line staff I don't think I've EVER had to deal with a billing issue thats actually the systems fault. Its notmally down to human error where someone hasn't done something correctly in the first place. IE, The offer or Talk package not being applied correctly.
