How to default TV to HD

Hi,

I have a Sony V3200 TV connected to V+.

AV1 (or can use AV2) on the TV is connected to Scart AV on V+.

AV4 on the TV is HDMI cable connected to V+. Tried HDMI override in the V+.

If I use AV1 or AV2 when I turn on the TV it outputs fine to the V+.

When I use AV4 I get a blank screen. How can I get the TV to automatically recognise AV4? I want to use the HD as default but if I have to keep using the TV remote to change to AV4 as soon as I turn on the TV then I will stick to scart.

Any ideas?

Re: How to default TV to HD

I have a Sony Bravia and I have an HD hdd/dvd recorder connected via HDMI, unfortunatly the HDMI connection does not carry a switching signal unlike the scart plug, so unless somebody knows different there is no other way. I have a Marmitek multi remote and have a micro set to switch the recorder on and the tv to the HDMI on one button, saves a lot of hassel.

You should be able in the settings on the sony, to make it skip all the AV inputs you don't use.

Can you elaborate as this is not an obvious process?

This may be a stupid question but you have set the V+ to HiDef output?

Sony support claim that HDMI doens't have any switching signal like scart you have to manually switch to the AV signal. Or buy a remote with macros such as the RM-VL600T.

Why can't I set the settings on the Sony, to make it skip all the AV inputs you don't use?

Any ideas?

Re: How to default TV to HD

My Panasonic TV has a setting in the menu called 'Control with HDMI' which if you set to On causes the TV to switch to HDMI when you turn on the V+.

Pls confirm you do actually get a picture on AV4 from V+.

Re: How to default TV to HD

On my tv, Sony KDL-V40A12U, by pressing menu and selecting the setup icon, I pick AV Preset, it then shows all of the inputs from AV1 to AV6, each on can be given a name from a list or a name of your choice or skip, I have AV1 for my standard stb, AV5 HDMI and AV6 for camera all the other are skip, so when pressing the AV button it will only cycle through your selected ones.
I hope this helps.

Re: How to default TV to HD

Yeah, but you shouldn't have to cycle.

When I turn on the TV I want AV4 (HDMI connection) - always.

Not AV3 or the others.
