Richy Branson Mortgages Virgin Media

Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin Group has raised $225m through a “collar option� derivatives transaction against part of his stake in Virgin Media in order to fund his space project, mobile phone operations in Asia and renewable energy investments. The arrangement enables Virgin Group, which is the UK cable company’s largest shareholder with a 10 per cent stake, to borrow money against the value of the shares pledged without losing any of voting rights or dividends.

It should be noted that if this isnt paid back, Virgin Media will then be run by someone else... probably the "bank" that gave Branny the money, as with any other Mortgage.

Well I think they maybe this will end up at the beginning, all over again. Cable & Wireless would buy Virgin Media, then all over again.

Lets hope they pay it back!

Actually I rather agree with martymoo..I too am rather sick of all the negativity from some folk posting on the site at the moment especially those who want to incessantly indulge in the bash other people's choice of DTV,BB and phone provider though perhaps it was over emphasised in his posting.
