Virgin to sponsor Big brother 8

Cable Forum can reveal that Virgin Media are to be the new sponsors of Big Brother 8, with a heavy push on Virgin Mobile.

David Charlesworth, head of sponsorship at Channel 4, said: "We share so much with Virgin in both brand and business so look forward to pooling our expertise to create a ground breaking sponsorship."

James Kydd, managing director of marketing at Virgin Media, added: "We're a pioneering and innovative company so it made sense to create an alliance with a show that has genuinely changed the face of TV."

More on this story as we get it.

Re: Virgin to sponsor Big brother 8

Amazing that, wonder where VM will stand on racial abuse, bullying and non-entities being described as celebrities??

Re: [MERGED] Virgin Media to Sponsor Big Brother 8

I imagine they will claim that it was nothing to do with them and the other person started it.

Yep and then there will be threads with people giving obviously biased opinions as gospel.

Re: [MERGED] Virgin Media to Sponsor Big Brother 8

To be fair, Virgin are to be sponsoring BB8, not Celebrity Big Brother which despite the obvious similarities, is a different show.

Re: [MERGED] Virgin Media to Sponsor Big Brother 8

Yeah - I heard Orange pulled out this morning

I'm not convinced that's a good move though... What were the viewing figures like for series 7? I can only imagine they're gonna slump further...? Unless of course they get some really wild contestants in..

I guess it walked alright for Talk Talk - they sponsored for a few years didn't they?

Re: [MERGED] Virgin Media to Sponsor Big Brother 8

Hmmm, I'm sure it will get good advertising and be seen by many people, but I personally think it will lower standards and make Virgin Media look cheap and tacky.
