free month only if you sign a new 12 month contract.

<quote>

I phoned up my ISP a while ago to cancel my then unusable broadband as
technical support were going around in circles. Retentions managed to
convince me to give technical support another go and said they would call
me back.

They called me back, were a bit more helpful. They said they were willing
to give me a month free because of the trouble I was having, but I would
have to enter into a new 12 month contract.

Crafty way of retaining a customer, try to lock into a 12 month contract
so it doesn't matter that if the broadband can't be fixed because they
can't leave anyway. Bit of an insult really.

Re: free month only if you sign a new 12 month contract.

They do, its the same as crappy BT. My mum didn't understand what they were telling her at the time and said yes...so unfortunately I'm stuck with BT with a stupid verbal contract until December

Shouldn't this thread be under Other ISPs as it doesn't appear to be about Virgin Media?

Re: free month only if you sign a new 12 month contract.

virgin media have an initial 12 month minimum period, this is renewed if you take a V+. retentions offers are not subject to 12 month minimum period, ever.
