Re: sticking the boot in
I agree, but then I've always supported the cable companies so perhaps I'm biased.
I've got V+ nowadays and I'm delighted with it. It's everything digital cable TV should always have been.

I totally agree. Sky is so huge now, £4+ Billion turnover, digital satellite domination, 8/9 million customers. I would put my money on Sky screwing VM unless Branson/Birch can turn VM into a quality branded product which at present it is not.

Re: sticking the boot in
Ok, in order...
"i am totally fed up with the wingers putting the boot in about vm.do they not realise a rebrand takes a certain amount of time to get things right ?"
"Whingers", I presume was what you meant ..A rebrand is just a badge change, takes no time at all. If you mean "re-structure", then yes, I agree it takes time, but Richard Branson said he brought the launch forward because he was "Happy with progress", words which may come back to haunt him. I also will whinge all I want, I am a VM customer!
"having formely been with bt,and sky many moons ago they were nothing to write home about"
"formerly"..but, I agree again, they are both rubbish, but BT are improving quietly.
" and i am looking forward to the day when vm screws them into the ground. "
Murdoch's favourite phrase is "I've got deep pockets"
In the unlikely event that VM DO trash Sky, they will then be able to dictate the market structure and prices, which is no good for anyone on Planet Earth, which is where the rest of us are from.
And why is everyone on here with the prefix tweetie a rabid VM acolyte??
IP checks might be an idea..

Re: sticking the boot in
I wouldn't want to see Virgin Media *trash* Sky, what I would like to see is them putting up a decent fight and providing a product that is as good, if not better, than Sky's.
Up until now, Sky's offering has always been the more polished product.....even though I've always preferred cable myself, I accept that Sky has usually led and cable has struggled even to follow.
Now though, with V+, cable has the opportunity to really take the fight Sky. V+ is not perfect yet, but it's early days and I'm confident that finally the cable industry is serious about competing with Sky on the TV platform.
I wholeheartedly welcome that....it should have started in 1994, but better late than never.

Re: sticking the boot in
I don't mind the whingers as such..I'm just fed up with the pro sky trolls and trollasses who keep coming here and starting up trouble by.
<>opening up new threads about the same issues at every opportunity whilst ignoring the dozens of already begun threads on the same issues.
<>denigrating and insulting those who are VM users who feel aggrieved that their service has been affected by Sky's behaviour over Sky 1 etc.Not everyone who comes here is literate and that may be due to many reasons that they have no recourse over such as Dyslexia or even, horror of horrors, bad typing.
However IF you are an aggrieved VM user please try to use the already started threads about the issues surrounding VM instead of starting a new thread. It's less unsettling for the old crabbies like me. Also if you are poor at spelling due to whatever syndrome(in my case it's enthusiasm and fat fingers) you suffer from and use a an application that has a spell checker and cut and paste your postings to the forums...gives you a chance to cool down and get your thoughts in order as well.

RB being happy with progress does not mean he is finished changing things.

Based upon my own experience, I would say BT is actually getting worse..

No. Competition is good. If one company controls the market then, regardless of whether that company is Sky, Virgin or whoever, it is bad.

There will always be moaners and whingers, that will never change - that is, after all, what started this site (and it's spinoffs) many years ago.

I agree, I'd love to see what would happen if sky lost all the football. I don't think Vm are big enough to out bit them but the next sell off will be interesting.

Re: sticking the boot in
VM are nowhere near big enough to directly compete with the monopoly that Sky currently holds but obviously Mr Murdoch sees them as a future threat and is now looking to do what he can to try and lock down his current position. Right now OFCOM should be looking to make sure that the industry is open to a proper level of competition before it gets to the point where no-one can take Sky on.
