to the forum!

There's loads of Virgin Media employees on this forum, that's what makes it such a great forum. Hopefully they will reply soon.

Re: Thinking of going for a job at VM

I think im qualified to comment.... Ive been with VM for 9 years(ish) and have found it to be a great company to work for, more to the point its getting better! People are genuinely excited about being a Virgin..... employee.

I started with the business 'on the phones' in CS and once I stopped messing about I started moving up the ladder and Ive done ok since then.

I have staff/teams all over the UK and probably one of the most interesting jobs in the business. Equally and probably more importantly I've been rewarded for my hard work. In the last 12 months ive both changed my role again and also worked really really hard, through that work ive increased my responsibilities significantly which has resulted in 2 pay increase. If I deliver my promises by Septrember Im promised another.

Im not trying to paint the picture that we all get pay rises left left right and centre, in fact the anual pay rises/bonus's will never make you rich but ive picked the right moves for me!

Ill be honest there have been times that ive wanted to leave and come close but the people have kept me going and if your bright, prepared to learn and able to take the rough with the smooth then join us.

Oh and im sure people whill be talking about redundancies while im typing this and they are still happening but thats the world we live in. The strongest will survive!

the otherside of the coin is since the virgin takeover service techs have had a paycut and a shift system imposed that nobody likes ....but we did get a bonus

Question Re: Thinking of going for a job at VM

Hi there,

I can kinda relate to the below except I work for one of your bigger competitors. I'm going for an interview tomorrow to join VM as I have always been a fan of Sir Richard and to me I'd rather say 'I work for VM'. I take it the staff gets the same kind of deals as in free tv, internet and phone calls?

Re: Thinking of going for a job at VM

Scotland.... Must be Sky then!

No idea what the staff get at Sky but VM get all the regular channels free (not Sports and Movies) and anything else at half price.

If you live in a non serviceable area you get... nothing worth having, but I dont work there for QVC!

Re: Thinking of going for a job at VM

As large companys go the terms and conditions are second to none.

But as an individual local conditions i feel are poor

Its a 'do as say' culture

I wish they would read Sir Richards company statements cos they dont live by them

Just realised you get some staff from VM on here so you never know the great man himself might even be reading these treads and if so I'm sure he will come accross yours.

Those are the old scheme, the new one is less good if you have all the extras but is better at a basics level ie costs a bit but is tax free.
