Is anybody else having trouble connecting to newsgroups using Outlook Express?
I'm lucky to connect twice in one week lately....just keep getting "no response from newserver"
Am just wondering whether the cloud was only raining over my head and if anyone has found a good alternative to Outlook Express(if they be the cause of the problem!!!).

Have you tried the text.news.ntlworld.com server?

It's about the only one which seems to be anywhere near reliable.

- & it's NTL not Outlook Express is the problem.

That's right. If/when you are lucky enough to connect, have a look at the NTL newsgroups. Many people are complaining about the dismal service. Homealone is right about the server as well. text.news etc is your best bet.

Yes, it does seem to have been worse than usual the past few days, and here speaks someone who has all 5 ways of connecting to the ntl ngs up and running.

These are the server addresses I know of,

news.ntlworld.com
news.cable.ntlworld.com
newscache.cable.ntlworld.com
news.cache.ntlworld.com
news.cache.cable.ntlworld.com
text.news.ntlworld.com (No binaries obviously)

Try them all and see how you go, remember NTL also allow access to -

news.tesco.net

and

news.virgin.net

sometimes these work better than ntl's own.
