Good things about NTL!
Inspired by the "NTL's 5-star service" thread I though we could do with one where we will only have good things about NTL.
I'm not one to come down heavy-handed on people for disobeying rules but this is the exception - any negative posts about NTL will be removed
This isn't meant to be pro-ntl propaganda as negative comments about them can be posted in other areas. I'm just going to see how this thread goes, if it gets out of hand then it might need to be dealt with.
I'll start....each time I've needed an engineer for my TV in the last 6 months, someone has turned up that day.
The last 3 times I've needed to sort things out with my broadband, I spoke with Imback twice and once with some bloke called Dev, both did a fantastic job

So you actually needed to get an engineer out a few times and had a problem with BB 3 times?.......
Actually, I have only had one problem with ntl....so far (tempting fate writing this) and I have BB, TV and phone.

I haven't had to have an engineer out once since this install, over two years ago now. Although we once did order one because we thought the phone socket was broken (long story), and subsequently cancelled, they did promise he'd be there the next morning.
Other good things about NTL? Well, if you're in an ex-CWC area (especially one of the newer ones to be converted), then BB is excellent.
The phone prices are okay I suppose, although I don't make enough calls to warrant any of the heavy use packages (that's what I've got a mobile for). Caller display would be nice though (am I allowed to say that?)
The TV service is getting better. With the new remotes and the leaner, faster, blue-er CR3 that's allegedly on its way, not to mention increasing amounts of e-TV, it should get better still. But please sort out the channel numbering, people...

Had NTL for 5 years with only one tech. Ironically i had the get the tech out the day after i left NTL (i left, and now back during Uni summer holidays) it was to do with the Broadband. But other than that no problems, no complaints, no worries

The chaps who did my initial phone & TV installation appeared on the day stated & the installation went well, although I did have to ask them not to bridge the damp course when cementing the cable past the kitchen door.
Last year I got broadband installed. This was an easy job as I didn't need any extra cable points. The guy turned up on time, changed a splitter. Plugged in the modem, got it synced & left. used the broadjump CD to register without any hitches. The only fly in the ointment being the non-essential correct-connect utillity which wouldn't configure itself.
Since then I have not had to call customer services. I have had one service glitch which required a reboot of my analogue TV box. Broadband has mostly been OK and the phone service has been perfect. The phone line was much clearer than my only BT line & would connect to 56k with an analogue modem most times, where the old line would top out at 33k.
Love & Kisses
Alan
P.S. Is that nice enough?

I have been with ntl: for over 8 years now. It started off as Telecentral, then comtel and now ntl: Can't fault them. Got all the services and have never looked back.
Actual faults in that 8 years
Phone 2 (both sorted within the hour!)
Analogue TV 0 (zero),
Digital 3 (2 beyond ntl:'s control, power cuts) 1 dead STB (replaced within 24 hours)
BB 2 ( phoned TS, sorted within the hour)
Did a survey for the phone with ntl: and told them they must do better!!!!!!

Stand alone cable modem service in Teesside.
I am on 600K BB have been for nearly 2 years, in that time there have been no more than 3 outages. one of them was the day it was installed, local hub went bang, I was promptly informed of this and by 10am the next day it was all fine.
other than that the service has not been down for more than 20 mins.
Had a problem with the cable to house, 2 digi boxes and CM on an RG6 (upgraded form analogue) so NTL came out and installed a RG7 cable for digi boxes and CM now is on RG6 by itself. NTL did this approx 2 hours after the fault was reported by the CM installation guy.

Yes, ntl do supply phone books, but there is a small charge for them. If you want to order one, ring your CS dept.
