Re: Job with NTL?
You would probably need to write to them at the 'Hook' address.
NTL Communications LTD
NTL House
Bartley Wood Business Park
Bartley, Hook
Hampshire
RG27 9UP
I could be wrong-perhaps some nice ntl associate can confirm that?

Try looking on totaljobs.com
In the telecommunications section, there's an NTL link on the right.

Depends on where you live. Best best option is to ring your local call centre and ask if there are any jobs going. Obviously with redundancies in some areas there are some areas that won't be taking on staff, but also some areas (mine for example where north sales will be based) there are lots of jobs going.
If you are in the NW I can get you contact details for recruitment managers fro most areas (sales/C.serv etc). If you are, PM your details to me and I'll get someone to ring you.
If you are elsewhere, like I say your best ringing up the local c/serv, sales call centre and ask if there are jobs going!

Send your CV to the address Neil's given, but FAO HR Recruitment.
If you let me know what it is you're interested in, I'll have a look at our internal vancancies board.

Surely any positions on an internal vancancies board would only apply to current employees?

Not at all - if you see a job and think you know someone outside ntl that can fit the description, you can recommend they submit a cv for it.

I guess it can mean a few things. In my experience it has meant the following, depending on which company and which job I'm applying for:
1. We wanna get you as cheaply as possibel
2. We don't know how much this position is really worth
3. We want to see what kind of calibre of person this role will attract
4. We know how much we want to pay, but if someone fantastic comes along and only expects half that amount then we're in!
And sometimes more that one of the above!
Personally I think it is a little unfair. I have always tried to include a salary guide, preferably an upper limit guide in all the positions I have ever advertised. It's fair on the applicant, and it means that the employer doesn't have to waste time interviewing very talented people who are out of their price range.
I guess if you're advertising for the DG of the BBC then you really can negotiate your value...but for most positions I've found that being upfront is fairest.
