Virgin Media adds five new HD channels to its line up

# 19 October 2011, 04:22 by Chris T

Virgin Media has added seven new channels to its cable TV line up, including five in high definition.

The channels come thanks to a deal with UKTV, the broadcaster that was part-owned by VM until it sold its 50% stake to Scripps Network Interactive in August.

The new HD channels are Eden HD, Good Food HD, Watch HD and Dave HD. +1 variants of Yesterday and Eden, and Alibi HD, which will arrive in 2012, complete the new line-up. Once all the channels are up and running, the cable operator will have 37 HD channels on its platform.

Cindy Rose, executive director of digital entertainment at Virgin Media, said: “Our commitment remains to deliver and develop the most compelling digital home entertainment service available in the UK and we will continue to build on our great TV and On Demand offerings to give our customers the best range of services now and for the future.”
