Virgin Media in talks to provide additional content

# May 24, 01:11 PM by Gavin

Virgin Media have announced that they are in talks with content providers, to replace the content that was shown on some of Sky’s basic channels. Sky withdrew some of their channels in March this year.

Virgin Media’s Chief Operating Officer, Neil Berkett, has recently announced in Broadcast magazine that Virgin Media are in talks with content providers, to provide new channels to replace those removed by Sky. The main focus is going to be replacing the news and sports channels.

This comes as last March, Sky removed Sky One, Sky Two, Sky Three, Sky News, Sky Sports News, and Sky Travel from the Virgin Media platform following an acrimonious negotiation to agree a broadcasting fee. This has now been referred to the courts and OfCom.
