NTL to axe 1500 jobs

# 7 April 2004, 17:48 by Cable Forum

NTL is to cut 1500 staff from their call centres, ntl claim this is a radical step to improve customer services, 10 out of the 13 UK Call centres will close over the next 18 months.

These are just some of the reactions from ntl staff that have posted on our forum, here is what one ntl employee said:-

‘People like myself, who go out of our way to help customers and provide a good service, ALWAYS end up going, while less able staff seem to hang on and drag the business down.’

Another ntl employee said:-

‘I am just another fish in the sea who has been made redundant today.’

Chief Executive of ntl, Simon Duffy, said “NTL has made good progress in improving its customer service, but we still have some way to go.”

Last year, ntl emerged from bankruptcy. At the start of this year, the two in charge of ntl, James Mooney and Simon Duffy received share bonuses worth $50 Million (£28 Million).
