The Music Factory comes to ntl Ireland

# 2 April 2004, 02:03 by Frank

The Music Factory, which begins broadcasting on April 5, is being added to the channel lineup for ntl customers in Ireland, bringing to 16 the number of channels now available to basic subscribers in the Dublin, Galway and Waterford regions.

The basic cable television package from ntl includes a mix of Irish indigenous channels and popular UK terrestrial channels, according to BreakingNews.ie

The Music Factory is a new, youth-orientated music channel from MTV. In a recent performance survey, conducted by BARB in the UK, The Music Factory was the fourth most watched digital channel amongst 16-34-year-old Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) viewers.

ntl Ireland also said it plans to introduce further new programming in Dublin, Waterford and Galway in the near future.

Commenting on the channel addition, Mark Mohan, Sales & Marketing Director of ntl Ireland said: “This enables our customers to benefit from even more choice as well as getting the best value from Ireland’s local and trusted operator of multichannel television services.”

Mark is also infamous, should he forget, for the customer-friendly language used when ntl Ireland subscribers petitioned the cable company to return Eurosport to the channel lineup.

“Your 2200 signatures are a drop in the ocean when we are talking about 375,000 households (circa 1 million people) availing of our service. In any case petitions would not be a driver for our decision making – we all know that people sign these things ‘just for a laugh’ or ‘because my mate asked me to’.”
