Telewest To Kick Off 3 New Sports Channels

# 2 August 2005, 16:33 by Cable Forum

A Telewest Press Release this afternoon informs us that Telewest Broadband will be launching three new channels this week as it gears up for the start of the Bank of Scotland Premier League football season.

Setanta Sports 2, Celtic TV and Rangers TV will join Setanta Sports 1 on the cable company’s digital TV service, enabling football fans to watch all the live action from the comfort of their armchair.

Celtic TV kicks off the week by replaying the weekend’s SPL action. Every week night the channel provides news and exclusive interviews from behind the scenes at Celtic Park. Rangers TV provides exclusive news and action from Ibrox every weekday night as the Gers defend their SPL title.

The channels will provide exclusive live coverage of 38 SPL matches with pre and post match analysis and a raft of live European football from the Dutch, French, German and Italian leagues on the new Setanta Sports 2 channel.

Eric Tveter, president and chief operating officer at Telewest Broadband, said: “We’re delighted to be offering our customers extended coverage from the SPL this season. We’re now a one-stop-shop for the best live football action and, with combined digital TV and broadband packages starting from just £15 a month, there’s never been a better time to sign up to cable.”

Customers can subscribe to all four Setanta channels for £14 a month, or take a season ticket priced at £140. Throughout August, consumers can sign up to digital TV and broadband internet for £15 a month. To find out more about Telewest Broadband’s services visit www.telewest.co.uk or call 0800 953 5000.
