Telewest Broadband offers TV indulgence

# 14 July 2005, 13:37 by Nemesis

Teleport service extended with instant access to whole TV series
Teleport, Telewest Broadband’s TV-on-demand service, is today enhanced with the launch of Teleport TV, a new section offering complete TV series at the touch of a button.

The cable company’s Teleport service was launched to digital TV customers in Cheltenham and Gloucester earlier this month, offering a huge selection of current programmes and films via the existing set-top box and remote control. The service enables viewers to watch what they want, when they want and is being launched on a region-by-region basis.

Teleport TV initially offers over 60 hours of top series, kids programmes and documentaries including Walking with Cavemen and What Not to Wear. This soon will grow to over 300 hours as additional content is added from channels including National Geographic, Discovery, LIVINGtv, Bravo and more from the BBC.

The Teleport service offers a selection of free, subscription and pay-per-view content in different areas. Customers taking the company’s top (Supreme) digital TV pack will enjoy unlimited access to Teleport TV as part of their standard service, with other customers paying an optional £5 per month.

Eric Tveter, president and chief operating officer of Telewest Broadband, said: “Teleport TV is perfect for viewers wanting to watch an entire TV series at their own pace and when it suits them. Or for anyone wanting to indulge in a feast of their favourite programme over an evening or weekend.

“We’ve made on-demand access to TV series part of our top digital TV pack, which should prompt consumers to question the value and technical limitations of our competitors.
