ntl: release Q4 results

# 17 March 2005, 18:04 by Paul M

ntl released their Q4 results earlier this week – these showed a further increase in the number of Broadband customers as well as better financial results. The financial highlights showed revenue up by 5.7% to £2,074 million.

ntl now has 1.33 million broadband customers, including around 62,000 acquired with the purchase of virgin.net. Excluding virgin.net and other off net customers, there was a 31% increase in broadband subscribers over 2003.

Virgin.net was fully acquired in November 2004 and has around 590,000 customers, of which around 90% are dial-up.

Other items include the sale of the broadcast business in January 2005 for £1.27 Billion – £500 million of which is being used to payoff debt, and £475 million to buy back shares.

The results also mention that they were looking at “strategic alternatives” for the Republic of Ireland business and that considerable interest had been shown by potential buyers.
