Telewest and Nickelodeon UK sign new deal

# 14 February 2005, 17:54 by Frank

Telewest Broadband and kid’s TV network Nickelodeon have successfully completed negotiations on a new contract and the popular children’s channels have relaunched after 2 months absence.

The full range of Nickelodeon channels are available across all three channel packs – Starter, Essential and Supreme – until the end of March, giving all of the company’s one million digital TV customers an opportunity to sample them once again after they disappeared in December.

After this period Nicktoons will again be available as part of the Essential pack and Nickelodeon, Nick Jr., Nick Replay and Nicktoons will feature in the Supreme pack.

Eric Tveter, President and CEO of Telewest, said: “We have been working hard with Nickelodeon to reach an agreement that meets
our drive to deliver value to our customers and also enables Nickelodeon to showcase their channels as widely as possible. We are delighted to have come to an amicable agreement that allows us to continue offering our customers excellent programming at excellent prices.”

The agreement also means Nickelodeon content will form as part of Telewest Broadband’s TV-on-demand service later this year.

In December, Nickelodeon launched an appeals website.
