ntl reshuffle creates 500 new jobs in Manchester

# 14 October 2004, 16:13 by Cable Forum

NTL is creating 500 new jobs in the Manchester region in a big reshuffle of its 14 national call centres. 450 Telesale and customer service positions will be available along with an extra 50 installation positions.

350 postions are being created at the Wythenshawe call centre and a 100 at the Baguley office.

It has been previously reported that ntl is closing nine of its national call centres to consolidate operations into 5 national call centres.

Alan Grant, Managing Director for London and the north says:”The company decided to split into a marketing, sales and installation business and an after-sales business. We were looking at the ability we had to consolidate our operations into fewer but better equipped, better serviced centres.

“The change is driven by the view that fewer places migrated to one national system gives us the facility to have three major centres of excellence in customer services and two in sales.

“At the moment, we have different systems in different geographical areas. Consolidation means we have more people in one place, giving us more flexibility.”

“We have a good workforce here already – on a track record of ability and performance, Manchester has always done well.”
